The slurry pool is just under boring machine, it is a place of sedimentation which deposit the mud come out from the hole, the mud will be pump up into the faucet on the top of Kelly bar after sedimentation. This is a complete circulation while boring.

For your info, there is another mud circulation in reverse direction, called reverse circulation. We have to equip another kind of pump called reverse circulation pump set, to running in reverse direction. The advantage of reverse circulation is that this pump can suck the boring hole and small rock block etc can be removed from the hole.
